Today’s Favorites:

National Velvet Ok maybe more like a favorite 20 years ago, but Elizabeth Taylor’s death yesterday reminded me of how much I loved it. She always said it was her favorite role.

Gregory Peck as Atticus Finch There’s a reason it hasn’t been remade. Great way to wrap up teaching the book.

Coke Zero A terrible addiction. A wonderful addiction.

The Four Hour Body Not too hard…been doing a modified version for two weeks and am down 4 lbs in one week (didn’t weigh myself the first week). We’ll see how long it lasts.

Yogamazing Podcasts (Free on itunes.) Ever since I turned 30, I feel like my body is falling apart, so I’ve been trying to do more¬† yoga lately (see October 2). These podcasts are about 25 minutes long and are great for any level.

This baby bonobo. I want one!!

Sities, the baby elephant Eric and I are now fostering, because we are suckers for babies, animals and Oprah.

Bubble baths I take a bath about 3 times a week. It always includes a magazine and occasionally includes wine.

Miss Manners I’m addicted.

Uggs Broke out my Uggs today for the first time this year. They really can’t be beat, especially if you have Raynaud’s Phenomenon. Since I wear them every day during the winter, I’ve found the Classic Short in Chestnut to be the most durable and versatile.

This article, which I could have written, and is 100% true.

My sophomores, who like to leave behind things in my classroom that will confused the (easily confused) 7th graders.¬† For example, they hide notes in the textbooks. So far the 7th grades have found one that says “Are friends electric?” and another that said “If you are reading this, you are part of the resistance.”

Actually, this whole website.

Gene Weingarten One of the smartest people I’ve ever heard from. I also read his monthly chat.

Dr. Laura (I know, I know, why do I like a right-wing nutjob? I don’t know. I like that she’s tough on stupid people. More people need to be tough on stupid people. And…some of her advice is really good. I tune out the stuff I don’t agree with.)

Mary Occhino This lady is (unintentionallly) hysterical.

Sonya Fitzpatrick It’s never been any secret that I can’t get enough of this lady. She’s hard to catch, but I’m glued when she’s on. I think it’s the soothing quality of her voice. I also love to hear people who love their pets so much.

Cosmo Radio – “Cocks with P” rocks!

Skinny Cow Love the ice cream cones!

Smart Ones desserts Surprisingly satisfying. My favorite is the peanut butter cup.

ipad USA today crossword every night before bed.
